The Self-Transcendence 6 &10 day races
are over and the results are available on the site at the
url below. Several excellent performances combined with unusually
rain-free conditions helped provide an unforgettable experience
for the runners and the organisers.
Sarah Barnett from Australia improved by 136 miles on last
years performance to claim first place ahead of Nataliya Hlushchuk,
last years winner, on the last day. Rimas Jakelaitis(left)
did what he needed to do to stay in front of the opposition
but struggled with a knee problem after the first day.
In the 6 day, Glen Turner averaged a little over 70 miles
a day to keep clear of Bob Oberkehr with 421 miles but not
enough to threaten Dipali Cunningham who won the event outright
again, averaging over 76 miles a day. Second placed Kaneenika
also deservedly took second place overall by squeezing in
an extra mile at the end to give her 422 miles.

The Self-Transcendence 6 & 10 day races are in full swing and
the park is humming. In the 10 day, Rimas is keeping his nose in
front of Trishul giving the experienced Canadian hope of an elusive
victory in the 10 day. Rimas is still dealing with a knee injury
but he is a tough cookie.
In the ladies race, Australian Sarah Barnett has closed the gap
on last years champion Nataliya Hlushchuk who is averaging over
64 a day. Both runners have made significant improvements on their
2005 performances.
In the 6 day Dipali began the race feeling 100 % for the first
time in a few years and has established an overall lead in the race.
Bob Oberkehr, also up on last years race, has a little cushion on
Mark and Glen Turner. |
