Swedish runner plans Chicago
to New Oleans solo run
Björn Suneson a 57 year old economic reporter from Stockholm,
Sweden plans to start running from Chicago to New Orleans, 7 July
2005 he says "I run alone with a backpack but have no assistance.
I hope I will do it in 35 days".
My run is about 1,000 miles (about 160 Swedish miles). I havn´t
planned my route in detail so I don´t know the distance exactly.
Bjorn is an experienced runner, but not an ultrarunner. Ranked
number 3-5 in Sweden in marathon and half marathon in my age group
(men 55-59), and in April this year ran a marathon in Hamburg, Germany
in 2.55. In 2003 was in Wynne in Arkansas and won
the half marathon -- terribly hot and wet! He said "I think the heat, not
the distance, is the biggest problem for me because we up in the
North are not used to hot weather".
Bjorn has run 49 marathons in a period of about 25 years. Last
year was training 10,000 miles (PR).Bjorn is married, with five
children and loves running in the US. He also has great plans and
perhaps later on will run from west to east. But "first I take
New Orleans."
